A sacred space where prayer fuels work and work becomes worship.
Wholly Prayerful;
Holy Work.
The Prayer Barge is a floating sanctuary in the heart of Bristol—a quiet space for prayer, reflection, and encounter amidst the city’s daily rhythm.
We’re here to help people discover God in their work and reimagine everyday life as sacred ground.
A thin place in the heart of Bristol
For centuries, monks and wanderers have set out on the waves, chasing the Wild Goose (a Celtic symbol for the Holy Spirit) and seeking God in the unexpected. The Prayer Barge is just that—a floating sanctuary in the middle of Bristol’s daily grind. A thin place, where heaven feels a little closer to earth.
Reimagine work
This isn’t just a place to step away from work—it’s a place to reimagine it.
Jesus didn’t call people out of their work to follow him; he met them in it. He is already at work in our work, inviting us to join him. Prayer doesn’t just shape our quiet time—it shapes how we lead, create, serve, and build.
As we pray, he forms us. As we work, he moves through us.
“May the favour of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands”
— Psalm 90:17
